Summary

This funding opportunity is designed to expand access to non-clinical mental health and well-being supports across a central region in Texas. It aims to reach people from historically marginalized communities—those who often face high costs, lack of trust in traditional medical settings, and cultural disconnects with providers. The goal is to deliver culturally relevant wellness supports in community spaces that are trusted, such as libraries, faith centers, informal gathering places, or other neighborhood venues where people feel comfortable.

Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations, community groups, public institutions, or fiscally sponsored entities deeply rooted in these communities. The opportunity is open to both larger and grassroots organizations, and even collaborative efforts are welcomed if one entity is designated to lead and manage the project.

Funding is offered as a one-time, flexible grant spanning 24 months, with individual awards that can fit modest to mid-sized projects. Grants typically range in the order of tens to a few hundreds of thousands of dollars, depending on program scope and scale. There is no requirement for matching funds, and funds are often disbursed in installments.

Applications begin with a rolling Letter of Intent (LOI), opening in July and closing later in the month. Selected LOIs are invited to submit full proposals in August, with final decisions announced by early October. This is part of an annual cycle within a broader pilot effort focused on health equity and preventive well-being.

In essence, this grant supports efforts that meet people where they are—through peer-led groups, cultural healing practices, community education, and trusted environments. It encourages creative, community-driven approaches to mental wellness, empowering organizations to expand their impact.
