Summary

A regional grant initiative is available for nonprofit organizations and public agencies designed to support projects that advance community health and equity. The funding focuses on multiple thematic areas, including expanding access to culturally responsive care, supporting economic stability through housing and workforce development, and encouraging community-driven efforts in decision-making and civic health. Projects addressing behavioral health, early childhood wellness, older adult services, and safety-net systems are especially encouraged.

Eligible applicants include tax-exempt public charities and government-affiliated entities serving residents across five Central Texas counties. For-profit businesses and individuals are not eligible. Priority is given to organizations that center community voice, demonstrate data-informed planning, and aim to reduce health disparities.

Funds may be used to support a wide variety of efforts such as pilot programs, capacity-building, community-driven initiatives, housing-health integration projects, safety-net clinical enhancement, and mental wellness. Both short-term and system-level projects developed in collaboration with local partners are welcome. St David's Foundation

Grants are distributed via multiple mechanisms: open calls, invitation-only rounds, and rolling funds. Examples include recent cycles in “Housing + Health” and “Community‑Driven Change,” which awarded over $20 million across several dozen nonprofit and government applicants.

Award sizes vary depending on program and scale. Past rounds ranged from smaller awards to capacity-building intermediaries to multi-million-dollar pooled grants, with total annual distributions around $80–100 million.

Proposal timelines are tied to annual cycles: some streams open in spring or summer with deadlines through the fall, and rolling opportunities are released mid-year. Review committees convene shortly after application windows close, with awards announced soon thereafter.

This funding opportunity is offered each year, often with multiple tranches, and supports ongoing efforts to dismantle health inequities through structured community investment.
