In urban centers like Houston and Dallas, congestion can lead to delays and increased fuel consumption, worsened by outdated and diesel-dependent buses. The Texas electric school bus program is designed to address these challenges through substantial funding aimed at incentivizing the purchase and operation of Class 6 and Class 7 zero-emission vehicles. Seventy percent of the allocated funds will specifically target the electrification of school buses, with the remaining portion available for the adoption of other zero-emission vehicles.
